“Mad Men” creator and exec producer Matt Weiner is close to finalizing a two-year pact with Lionsgate that will keep him at the helm of his Emmy-winning AMC period drama.

The negotiations have been ongoing for months and the subject of much speculation in TV circles that Weiner might exit the show he nurtured for eight years before landing it on cabler AMC.
