On this day in 1956, movie going audiences were shocked out of their conservative socks with the release of BABY DOLL, a darkly funny, Southern gothic tale of two middle aged rivals for the attention of a sensuous 19-year-old.

Directed by ELIA KAZAN from a screenplay by TENNESSEE WILLIAMS, the cast included KARL MALDEN, LONNIE CHAPMAN and an amazingly sexy newcomer named CARROLL BAKER. Very hot stuff.
