On this day in 1951, director ROBERT WISE released one of the first socially relevant science fiction movies, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL.

Starring MICHAEL RENNIE, PATRICIA NEAL and HUGH MARLOWE, the film has stood the test of time and still packs a punch.
