She was known as “America’s Sweetheart”, “The Girl Next Door” and “The Perpetual Virgin”,  but according to author DAVID KAUFMAN, she was anything but.

In his latest book, DORIS DAY: THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE GIRL NEXT DOOR (Virgin Books $29.95), KAUFMAN details the many and complex aspects of this big-band singer turned actress turned cultural icon.

While KAUFMAN doesn’t hold back any facts and isn’t afraid to show his subject “warts and all” he chose not to overplay the fact that DAY was not only gay friendly but often surrounded herself with gay friends and associates.
